Nutrition Site Driver/Sub. Nutrition Site Coordinator II  

General description

Meets Agency Mission to promote health and wellbeing of individuals in the community by providing home delivered meals, and assisting with overseeing a partial week congregate Nutrition Meal Site.

Essential functions:

  1. Deliver meals to homebound participants and serve as Meal Site coordinator in the absence of the assigned Nutrition Site Coordinator 2 as needed and available
  2. Provide for social needs of program participants
  3. Assist with promoting Agency and nutrition services as needed
  4. Promote person centered services
  5. Protect consumers and reduce Agency risk


  1. Deliver meals to homebound participants and serve as Meal Site Coordinator in the absence of the assigned Nutrition Site Coordinator 2 as needed and available

  • Receive, hold, prepare and serve all foods in compliance with proper health and sanitation requirements
  • Ensure home delivered meals are prepared, accurately packaged and timely distributed to home bound program participants
  • Assist with obtaining meal selections from participants and submitting accurate and timely meal counts
  • Collect, report, and safeguard program income and donations


Skills needed to perform assigned duties include:


  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation
  • Ability to follow proper health and sanitation procedures
  • Ability to collect data and ensure accuracy of data and reporting
  • Experience with completing and transmitting electronic forms
  • Effective organizational skills and ability to interact well with others

2. Provide for social needs of program participants

  • Ensure a friendly, clean and inviting atmosphere at mealsites during congregate meals
  • Acknowledge holidays, organize special events and fun activities, etc., within budget
  • Develop and maintain a trusted relationship with program participants by being patient, open-minded, compassionate, flexible, responsible, supportive and following through
  • Promote friendly interactions with home bound participants while delivering meals, and with onsite participants
  • Facilitate problem resolution in the field and onsite
  • Conduct regular congregate meal site/delivery site safety checks

Skills needed to perform assigned duties include the ability to:

  • Understand, relate and work well with others who may share or hold different values/experiences, such as cultural needs, language, economic status, life experience, etc.

3. Assist with p romoting Agency and nutrition services as needed

  • Participate in community outreach and activity planning
  • Collaborate with program partners, providing information to community groups and media
  • Motivate participants to engage in a variety of health promotion activities

  • Knowledge of and experience with community and local social services
  • Experience in developing partnerships
  • Ability to engage and motivate others

  • Knowledge of nutrition and health promotion

4. Promote person centered services

5. Protect consumers and reduce Agency risk

  • Follow policies, regulations and requirements of program and Agency
  • Provide documentation as set forth by Federal, State, funding regulations, and Agency policy
  • Serve as a Mandatory Reporter of suspected abuse of vulnerable populations as required by policy and regulation, including oversight of volunteer contact and reporting
  • Maintain and share information according to privacy policies and regulations, including oversight of volunteer confidentiality requirements

Skills needed to perform assigned duties include the ability to:

  • Learn rules and comply with mandatory reporting and confidentiality
  • Train and monitor volunteers in this area

Experience and Skills:


Any equivalent combination of education and experience, which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the job will be considered; however, the following combination is preferred:

  • High School or equivalency
  • 1 year of experience coordinating a community program and working with volunteers; and 6 months food handling experience

Other requirements

  • Possession of a current food handler’s permit or ability to obtain prior to hire
  • Ability to secure and maintain a driver’s license valid in the state of Oregon, or an acceptable alternative means of transportation
  • Successful completion of a background check

Work environment/physical demands

Nutrition Site Driver's work is performed in the field, and at the site of the Nutrition Services Program as needed. They must be able to:

  • Frequently travel to deliver homebound meals
  • Regularly walk, stand, talk, listen with frequent interruptions throughout the day
  • Regularly grasp, reach, bend, stoop, and lift up to 30 pounds
  • Occasionally sit, push or pull
  • Travel to consumers in a variety of settings, homes, facilities, etc. of varying level of cleanliness and repair
  • Travel to community events and partner agencies
  • Drive an Agency car or employee car, carry and use a laptop computer

Contact with the public in home or office environments may risk exposure to irrational/hostile behavior, contagious diseases, or contact with domestic animals.
